What is Rashi Jal?
A word about Plant Astrology:
Since early in the history, man observed the cycles that plants have when they grow according to their seasons. Astrology and botany are complementary to nature. The myths surrounding the plants, their medicinal properties given from Mother Nature, unseen cycles that connect many different factors in our world gave ideas to some astrology concepts such as: Druid Horoscope, Celtic Tree Calendar, Indian Vedic Systems Jyotish Shastra (Vastu Shastra), Ayurvedic studies, and many others. They all have similar idea of a connection between time of year, plant growth, and the cycles of the stars in the sky: the zodiac. Plants seen from an astrological perspective show us how zodiac signs and plants are connected. From this perspective, people, plants, planets and constellations are made of the same “elements” (fire, earth, air and water) and energies (hot/dry, hot/moist, cold/dry, cold/moist). This commonality facilitates people’s connection with nature and the Universe.
Astrology and plants are associated with each other. Trees and vegetation not only protect the environment but are also capable of affecting human life by subsiding the ill effects of the environment. In this way plants play an important role in the planetary remedies. Trees and vegetation have the ability to change the condition of planets in human life. Vegetation planting and maintenance provide environmental protection as well, health, happiness and prosperity. There are several remedies in vedic astrology to pacify the ill-effects of afflicted planets placed in a “kundali”. Some of them include, for example, planting a Banyan tree on a highway that gives relief from markeyesha Saturn and longevity; or if Jupiter is weak or forms Alpayu yoga in association with any other planet then a Peepal tree can be planted to get good results. Similarly, medicinal plants/herbs are also used in astrology to get relief from inauspicious results of malefic planets.
Use of plants for medicinal purposes was linked to astrology by many early herbalists. Paracelsus – a Swiss-German Renaissance physician, botanist, alchemist, and astrologer declared that a physician should be predestinated to the cure of his patient and the horoscope should be inspected, with the plants gathered at the critical moment.
Astrology deals with the interpretation of an individual’s natal chart. The astrological chart is built from the Earth’s two distinct movements:
– its rotation around the Sun, which results in the cycle of the seasons and the length of daytime throughout the year
– its rotation around its own axis, which rules the alternation of day and night.
Jyotish Shastra Vedic System (Vastu Shastra):
- Trees are worshipped like Gods in Indian culture. It is a general belief that there are representative trees for every zodiac sign under whose protection the subject is blessed with favorable fruits or flowers. Each of the 12 signs can benefit from the properties of certain plants, which help to heal, grow, balance, and inspire. According to Astrological studies there are plants related to a Zodiac Sign called Zodiac Plants. People wear gems to bring Good Luck. Similarly plants/trees can also bring good luck, prosperity and happiness. A Zodiac plant related to your Zodiac sign is said to bring good fortune and luck in your life.
Indian Vedic System of Astrology Jyotish Shastra mentions trees that correspond 12 Zodiac signs (Rasi, or Raasi). According to this belief, positive energies come to one who plants his/her Rasi plant which will bring this person good luck and prosperity.
